六安市毛坦厂中学创建于 1939 年。1939 年，在日军入侵合肥前夕，省城部分学校迁至毛坦厂，成立了安徽省第三临时中学，史称 “三临中”。抗战胜利后，在“三临中” 的校址上办起了荥阳中学。1947 年，为了适应革命形势的发展，一批有识之士将荥阳、广城等五所中学在毛坦厂合并，校名为“私立六南中学”。1952 年改为公立，定名为六安县第二初级中学，史称“六安二中”。1960 年秋季创办高中部，更名为...
